DALLAS — A homeless man and a homeless woman were found dead in Dallas Wednesday following the coldest night of the season.

Homicide detectives found a 50-year-old woman near the intersection of Hotel Street and Memorial Drive. Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Gerardo Monreal said she appeared to have fallen asleep as the temperature plunged to 23 degrees.

Monreal said there was no visible trauma to the woman's body, and it is being treated as an "unexplained death" until the medical examiner's office rules on the cause. Her name was not released.

Two-and-a-half miles away, in the 4300 block of San Jacinto Street, a 60-year-old man was found frozen behind Emmanuel Lutheran Church, according to a police report. As with the other case, the cause of this death will be provided by the medical examiner.
