ALVIN –– An Amber Alert that was issued for 13-year-old Elizabeth Catherine Smith has been canceled.

Authorities say she showed up at her aunt's home around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Further details about her disappearance were not available.

"We appreciate everyone's help, but we have no further comment at this time," the aunt told KHOU 11 News.

On Tuesday evening, police said they were looking for 38-year-old Jose Angel Ponce in connection with her alleged abduction. Law enforcement officials believed Smith was in grave danger. She is not related to Ponce, authorities said.

According to investigators, the two may have met online through social media. Text messages between the missing girl and the suspect were sent the night before she disappeared.

Smith lives with her grandmother, and her grandmother found a note that said, "Going to Cali, love you." She later called her aunt and left a message that said she was in Cleveland with two guys and they were headed to California. They reportedly got a motel room for the night.

Investigators worked with Cleveland law enforcement and also went out there to check all the motels, but they found no new info.
