MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – State troopers say a 15-year-old boy was killed when the young girl he was riding with slammed into a tree in a Conroe-area neighborhood overnight.

The Cut and Shoot Fire Department and Montgomery County Fire Department responded to White Oak Orchard near Hill Top around 10 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said a 14-year-old girl was driving a Pontiac G6 westbound when she ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed. She lost control of the vehicle and then struck a tree head-on.

Her 15-year-old passenger, identified as Anthony Gomez, was partially ejected through the windshield and pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The female driver was sent to the hospital in stable condition.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office were both notified and are assisting in the investigation and any pending charges.

Troopers said the crash was made even worse because the vehicle’s airbags did not deploy. They later determined that, at the very least, the passenger’s airbag was missing.
