AUSTIN — We have an update on that University of Texas student from Rockwall who was caught on tape being hit by a city bus in Austin Friday.

Nick Engmann was with a group of people celebrating the final day of classes Friday afternoon before finals. When the light turned green, he stepped into the street and was struck by a Cap Metro bus.

Witness Brad North was astonished that Engmann survived after being tossed hard on the pavement.

"Right over there you can see the chalk in the ground," North said. "I saw the windshield and it was unbelievable that he is okay and out of the hospital, and that he actually walked away from this."

Police said the bus driver ran a red light, and is now on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

Engmann — who graduated from Rockwall Heath High School — said on his Facebook page he's the "sorest guy on the planet." He wrote that his adrenaline is gone, and the pain killers are barely helping.

He also thanked all of his friends for their support.
