Texas regulators are adding new rules to prevent inappropriate student-teacher relationships.
The State Board of Education endorsed a new Code of Ethics on Tuesday after getting complaints that some teachers were sending inappropriate text messages to students.
Under the new rules, any communication about physical attraction or discussions about sex would be a violation.
So would any communication that the teacher tries to hide.
Even if messages are not explicitly about sex, if a teacher contacts a student too often — or at unreasonable times of day — that is also considered inappropriate.
