SAN ANTONIO -- A Jourdanton mother claims her 8-year-old son received a death threat while riding a school bus. She says the district has refused to address the issue.

The note reads: "I'm going to kill Jesse on Monday. Hahaha"

The mother, who chose not to be identified, told WFAA sister station KENS 5 another student left that message for her son on the school bus they ride together.

The woman claims Jourdanton Elementary told her the issue was 'not severe enough' to investigate when she went to ask if the other student could be removed from the school bus.

"I took it very severe. I was afraid for my child to even go to school on Monday -- to the fact that I picked him up that day," the mother said.

Now, the mother claims, the family is being forced to find their son another way to get to school.

"Why should he have to pay the consequences? Why can't the other student pay the consequences for doing the wrong thing?"

Jourdanton Independent School District Superintendent Lana Collavo said the district investigates and takes proper action on all complaints. However, the district can not disclose any information on cases involving minors.
