Former Texas Gov. Bill Clements is recovering from a stroke.
Ex-staff members told News 8 the 93-year-old Clements suffered the stroke last month and was briefly hospitalized. He's feeling much better now, we're told.
Clements served two separate terms as governor. When first elected in 1978, he was the first Republican governor in Texas since reconstruction, just after the Civil War.
After losing his re-election battle to Democrat Mark White in 1982, Clements came roaring back in 1986 to beat White.
Clements left office in 1990.
