HOUSTON, Texas -- Authorities say they have identified the suspect who was caught on surveillance video breaking into a west Harris County home and hovering over a sleeping toddler.

Christopher Gomez, 18, was arrested Thursday night on warrants issued for him in cases filed previously.

Investigators have evidence indicating Gomez burglarized two other homes, and charges are still pending.

He became a suspect in the video surveillance burglary thanks to a tips to Crime Stoppers.

It happened back on April 5 around 5 a.m. in the 18200 block of Flint Hill Drive in Katy.

The burglar slipped into the family’s home through an unlocked first-story window. He appeared to be aware that surveillance cameras were recording his every move but carried on anyway.

The footage shows him going from room to room. For five minutes, the stranger is seen walking in and out of the bedroom of a 2-year-old boy.

At one point, the intruder hovers over the boy’s crib and points a flashlight toward the sleeping child.
