The Carry The Load walking relay crossed from Arkansas into Texas Thursday afternoon.

Temperatures rose, and sun beat down on soldiers and civilians who've been taking turns walking for 24 days. They're coming from West Point, N.Y. to Dallas, trying to bring attention to the meaning of Memorial Day.

The non-profit also raises tens of thousands of dollars for charities such as Snowball Express, which helps families of those who died while serving country or community.

This is only the second year for the relay, but the handful of men who've been along for the whole trip say participation has been growing.

To find out how to join the relay, or the Memorial weekend event in Dallas, go to CarrytheLoad.org. Follow the relay at this link.
