AUSTIN — Paramedics and STARflight rescued a 69-year-old man who fell from a 75-foot cliff on Saturday.

It happened Saturday afternoon near Brass Buttons Trail, next to the Colorado River and just south of the Mansfield Dam.

Lake Travis Fire Battalion Chief Clay Phillips told KVUE the trees probably slowed his fall.

Phillips said the man was painting his balcony when he fell over. Luckily, he had his cell phone when he fell and called 911.

His wife was home, but was unaware of what happened.

The man was not strapped into any safety equipment when he was painting.

He was taken to UMC Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.
