HOUSTON –- Relatives and authorities want to know who stabbed a disabled woman and then left her to die outside her southeast Houston apartment on Sunday evening.
Family members were screaming and crying when they got the devastating news that the mother, who was in her thirties, was stabbed to death.
It happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the Sunset Valley Apartments in the 6700 block of Fairway Drive.
Family members told WFAA sister station KHOU 11 News that someone stabbed the woman and then pushed her out of a car before speeding away. The victim’s 16-year-old son found his wounded mother in their complex's parking lot.
Someone called 911 and the woman was put in an ambulance, but she died on the way to the hospital.
Relatives said the woman, who had a stroke years ago, could no longer use her right arm.
“She is a good, sweet young lady,” said Melanie Hughs, the victim’s godmother. “She really is. Plus she is handicapped. She had a stroke. So I can’t see why someone is so down and dirty would do that to her.”
It’s unclear if there is any surveillance video at the apartment complex.
The victim’s only child told KHOU 11 News he just finished burying his dad, and now he has to deal with his mom’s death.
