Woman involved in crash says she was distracted by GPS directions

HOUSTON –- A woman’s SUV rolled when it was struck by two cars during an overnight crash in west Houston.

According to officers with the Houston Police Department, the crash happened around 12:15 a.m. Thursday along W. Sam Houston Parkway at Westview Drive.

Police said the woman ran a red light, causing two vehicles to strike her SUV. The SUV rolled, trapping the woman inside. She had to be freed by firefighters and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The woman allegedly told police she was following the directions on her GPS and was distracted at the time of the crash.

The drivers in the other vehicles were not injured, police said.
