SAN ANTONIO -- A frightened dog was rescued on Sunday from a guardrail along a busy highway.
Animal Care Services said the pit bull-type dog was found padlocked with a weighted chain to the guardrail on the Interstate-10 access road near West Avenue.
He was wearing a thick, black collar which was linked to a heavy chain and 35-pound barbell weights.
ACS investigators are reaching out to the public to help track down the owner.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 30s or 40s who was last seen driving an early model red Dodge Ram pickup truck with paper plates.
Anyone with more information is asked to call 311.
The frightened dog has been renamed Fresno by ACS staff. They said he is friendly, full of energy and will be readied for placement once his stray hold expires.
