AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Authorities say several people were injured after a pickup slammed into a taco stand in Austin.
Police Cpl. Anthony Hipolito says 22-year-old Osvaldo Galarza-Najera was charged with two counts of intoxication assault after the crash in the early morning hours Monday. Police said the driver had left the scene but was later located by police.
Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman Warren Hassinger says two women were transported with the hospital. One had a broken leg and the other had a suspected fractured pelvis. He said neither injury was life-threatening.
He said a man in the taco stand with grease burns refused to be taken to the hospital, as did a woman who said she had foot pains.
Galarza-Najera remained in jail Monday. Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
