BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — The Texas Department of Public Safety says it's still investigating last week's Thanksgiving Day traffic pile-up on foggy Interstate 10 west of Beaumont.
Two people were killed, 29 others were injured and 95 vehicles damaged.
The agency's Beaumont office said in a statement Wednesday that "appropriate charges based on Texas traffic law" would be filed once the investigation is complete.
A suburban Houston couple was killed in the Jefferson County chain-reaction wreck where many of the cars and trucks wound up twisted on top of each other. At least dozen people with serious injuries were admitted to three Beaumont-area hospitals.
The department says there were 18 separate crashes on the highway. Fourteen of them were on the eastbound lanes.
