BASTROP, Texas — A homeless man who found $77,000 in cash and gold coins along the banks of the Colorado River will get to keep the money.
The Bastrop City Council voted to let Timothy Yost have the money he found back on January 18. The city has had possession of it since it was discovered, as officials tried — and failed — to find the rightful owner.
Yost told police he found the bag of money when he went to wash his feet in the river. He's currently in jail on charges of public intoxication.
