Austin bus runs red light, hits UT student from Rockwall

AUSTIN -- A University of Texas student suffered minor injuries Friday afternoon after being hit by a Capital Metro bus that ran a red light.

Austin police say it happened in the 2200 block of Guadalupe. The bus ran the light, then hit Nick Engmann, who was in the roadway. He reportedly fell and hit his head, but his injuries are non-life threatening.

Engmann graduated from Rockwall-Heath High School.

EMS officials say his injuries are minor and not considered traumatic. He was taken to St. David's Medical Center.

KVUE is told the driver has been cited.
