Smartwatches are the talk coming out of the tech world. The wearable technology works as a timepiece and allows the user to interact with a smartphone. The watches also send out notifications, control smartphones remotely through Bluetooth technology, fitness trackers and other actions using gestures. The watches cost $80-$299.

There are nearly two dozen smartwatches on the market with about half a dozen prototypes for new ones in the works.

The Pebble by Pebble Technology, Passport by Martian and Galaxy Gear by Samsung are three of the more popular brands on the market. Below are some of the highlights and features to consider when deciding which watch works for you.
