There are hundreds of thousands of apps available for android, android tablets, Kindles, Nooks, iPhone, iPod, iPad and other electronic devices. To narrow them down to just eight was difficult, but polls show these the hottest.

8.    Number eight on the list is unusual, but fun. It is an app called COMICS. This is the only comic platform that has Marvel, DC and The Walking Dead series. There are also comics for smaller children. The app is free, but you will have to pay for the books.
 
7.    TWITTER is not at the very tippy top of the list it is number seven on the list. It is 140 characters to get information, or communicate with others.
 
6.    SKYPE is still the way to go for those wanting to talk and see the person they are chatting with at the same time. It is compatible with Mac or PC’s . The app is free and the app is free. Just create an account and get to calling.
 
5.    DROP BOX- we use that app here on GMT. It is easy to transfer pictures or documents between all devices. Put the information in the drop box, open it on your iPad or
 
4.    PULSE brings your favorite blogs, magazines, or newspapers into one place. This had more than 20 million users. You just scroll to the bottom, click on the catalog and find the blog or subject that fits your need.
 
3.    RUNKEEPER- More than 12-million people us this app to turn their phones into personal trainers or stop watches. With this you can track you run, walks or hike using the GPS already installed in your phones. IT will help you keep track of the workout.
 
2.    PHOTOSYNTH- This is a panorama or photo type of app which has the Microsoft name attached to it.  It is user friendly and fun to capture the whole picture instead of just part of the picture. You can save the pictures or share them on other social media site.
 
1.    The number one free app is probably no surprise. FACEBOOK. This is still the world’s biggest social network.
