FARMERS BRANCH - In the moments after a disaster or crisis, communication is key, but often cell phone lines are jammed.
Dallas-based AT&T is working to help disaster victims make emergency calls.
WFAA's Wyatt Goolsby took the Instant Live 8 camera to Farmer's Branch to get a look at AT&T's warehouse, where they are storing a large number of temporary, portable cell towers-cell sites.
This month, AT&T was named the first company in the country to earn the certification for disaster preparedness from Homeland Security. That means the government is going to back AT&T's efforts to get extra cell towers up when there is a disaster like a tornado that wipes out cell coverage.
Goolsby talks about the cell sites with AT&T's Bobby Adams.
