President Obama declined a border tour during his visit to Texas this week, saying it would amount to nothing more than a photo opportunity.
But shortly after he met with the president, Gov. Rick Perry told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity nothing can replace a first-hand account.
"I think he really needs to see how the interaction with these different law enforcements and the National Guard could secure that border," Perry said. "I think if the president would see that with his own eyes, he would act on it."
Perry insists that putting National Guard troops on the border is the most immediate need. After meeting with the Texas governor, the president said he would consider the request, but noted it would be a "temporary solution" to a long-range problem.
