ARLINGTON - Friends, family and law enforcement officers said goodbye Friday to a Waxahachie police officer killed in the line of duty.

Officer Josh Williams was heading to a disturbance last weekend when his squad car was hit by an alleged drunk driver.

Friday morning, his memorial took place at the Waxahachie Civic Center.

"It takes someone special to be a peace officer, and Joshua Stanley Williams was someone special," said Chief Chuck Edge, Waxahachie Police Department.

Williams was remembered not only for his devotion to his job, but for his sense of humor and dedication to his wife and three daughters.

He was 44 years old.

He was buried at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Arlington.
