PARKER — Happy 102nd birthday to Dallas real estate pioneer Ebby Halliday.
On Tuesday, some of her many employees lined up to wish her well during a special party at Southfork Ranch.
Halliday founded the real estate company that bears her name in 1945. So what's her secret to staying in the game? She makes it sound very simple:
"I don't smoke; I don't drink; and I don't retire!"
Ebby said she's good for at least another 10 years.
Her actual birthday is coming up on Saturday, but who doesn't love an excuse to have some cake?
Ebby Halliday may be onto something. There are five areas in the world where people most commonly live past the age of 100:
- Loma Linda, California
- Nicoya, Costa Rica
- Sardinia, Italy
- Ikaria, Greece
- Okinawa, Japan
National Geographic and Blue Zones found all these places had a few things in common, including less stress, plant-based diets, and environments that encouraged activity.
Most people living past 100 also found they had a purpose in life.
