DALLAS — It wasn't just corny dogs and fried Frito pie being served up on opening weekend at the State Fair of Texas.
Visitors also got a big helping of politics, Texas style.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele brought his "Fire Pelosi" bus to Texas. The bus is criss-crossing the country until Election Day.
Steele said he is trying to fire up supporters in opposition to the Democratic House leader, and he says the the Republican party is changing — thanks to a different set of eyes and voices.
"Whether you are talking about a Nikki Haley in South Carolina... a Tim Scott... Pastor Broden here... there is a huge opportunity for us to show the other side of who we are and what we believe," Steele said.
Stephen Broden is challenging Democratic Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson of Dallas, who is seeking a 10th term in office.
