District 12 - Democrat
Truth be told, I am a transplanted Yankee. Born and raised in “Taxachusetts,” I couldn't get here fast enough. Graduating from TCU in 1972 with a BA and 1973 with a MED, I set out to be a teacher. At that time, however it was not in the cards. I married a New Yorker and worked at various positions in the private sector until 1985 when I finally put my degrees to use and became a teacher of social studies. Over the years I taught government, history and geography in the public school system locally. I became a school counselor in 2003 and remained one until I retired in 2010.
I took two years off between 1968 and 1970 to fight for my country in Vietnam where I received a Bronze Star with a "V" device for heroism in ground combat. I have devoted the past 26 years to public education as teacher, counselor and advocate. I have been a member and leader in the Texas State Teachers Association since 1985, and am currently working part time as a consultant for them.
Jeannie is my wife of 21 years, my second wife, and I have three stepchildren with her, two of whom live and work in Fort Worth.Read More
