Now it's the Democrats' turn as they convene to re-nominate President Obama. But for Texas Democrats, will the enthusiasm fade when they return home to tough fall races? We'll ask the new state party chairman, Gilberto Hinojoso.

Republicans used the words "freedom" and "liberty" a lot at their national convention last week, but their meaning is up for interpretation, according to Dallas Morning News columnist Mercedes Olivera, and that has her in a Rant.

Republicans wanted to set the right tone at their convention to get Mitt Romney the best bounce possible into the fall campaign. But was it the right tone... or tone deaf? That's today's Flashpoint debate pitting radio host Mark Davis on the right and author and producer Katie Sherrod on the left.

On Roundtable, Ted Cruz' big moment at the Republican convention sees Democrats attacking whether the Republican U.S. Senate candidate is "Hispanic" enough.

And David Dewhurst, who lost out to Cruz in the primary runoff, says he'll run for reelection as lieutenant governor — but he won't be alone.
