DENTON — Denton wants to get more wheels on the road.
City leaders just approved a multi-million dollar plan to make streets safer for cyclists and runners.
The first stage of the plan includes 35 miles of new bike routes and lanes, a network that will double over the next decade.
Roads will also be made more pedestrian-friendly under the plan. The work will start with a $200,000 allocation; the rest of the money has yet to be approved.
Funding will either go into a bond program or will be part of future city budgets.
