DALLAS — Dallas County Commissioner Maurine Dickey is responding to fallout over the John Wiley Price investigation.

Now there have been threats of legal action against her over a comment she made on Monday.

"I understand that my staff has told me that they're going through the offices of John Wiley Price and Mike Cantrell," she told reporters at the time.

On Tuesday, Commissioner Mike Cantrell said using his name in a false statement could be subject to a lawsuit.

On Wednesday, Dickey issued a news release to explain the basis for her comment, saying:

"When my staff told me that agents were blocking access to Commissioner Cantrell's office and then I saw them myself, I was led to believe that his office may have also been included in their search."

Dickey's statement said she should not have speculated about the search without confirming the details personally.
