WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is entering the fray in the Massachusetts Senate race.
He sent an e-mail to Obama supporters assailing Republican Scott Brown for opposing the president's plan to tax large Wall Street firms to recoup money from the bailout.
Polls show Democrat Martha Coakley in a close race with Brown in the campaign to fill the late Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat.
Biden's e-mail was part of a stepped-up effort by Democrats to try to close that gap.
The vice president says in the e-mail that Coakley would be a strong ally of Obama and that Brown wouldn't stand with Massachusetts voters.
