SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Elizabeth Smart says she's "so happy" at the discovery of a California woman who disappeared as a teenager 10 years ago.

Smart says the victim, whose named has not been released, will need time and privacy to re-adjust to life after so many years in captivity.

Smart was snatched from her Utah bedroom in 2002 at age 14. She was repeatedly sexually assaulted and threatened during the nine months she was held captive.

She urges people not to question why the woman in California didn't escape sooner.

The 26-year-old says people cannot understand what victims are going through and the fear they have.

Smart says she's praying for the woman in California and says her rescue should make people hopeful that more kidnapped victims will be found.
