LOS ANGELES (AP) — A small earthquake was widely felt around the Los Angeles area but officials say there have been no immediate reports of serious damage.

The U.S. Geological survey says the magnitude 3.3 temblor struck at 11:39 p.m. PDT Wednesday and was centered near Cudahy, a few miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Fire department said in a brief statement that it had received no reports of significant damage.

However, the quake was felt throughout the region.

The USGS website had more than 1,700 postings from people in the metro area reporting that they had felt it.
