WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry says he believes there is a way forward to brokering Mideast peace even after talks were abruptly suspended Thursday.

However, Kerry said Israeli and Palestinian leaders need to make necessary compromises so that the nine months of negotiations can continue after an April 29 deadline.

He said the U.S., quote: "will never give up our hope or our commitment for the possibilities of peace."

Kerry spoke at the State Department, hours after Israel broke off the negotiations because of plans by Palestinian leaders to create a coalition government with the Hamas (hah-MAHS') terror group.
