LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Officials say a Louisville man who recently had a dispute over zoning codes shot and killed a neighbor and critically injured another person at a homeowners association meeting inside a church.
Police have charged 55-year-old Mahmoud Yousef Hindi with murder in the Thursday evening shooting.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Jo-Ann Farmer says the victim, 73-year-old David Merritt, was shot once in the head and died at the scene.
The church where the shooting occurred, Springdale Community Church, is a popular community gathering place, hosting several youth sporting events.
Hindi is also charged with assault and seven counts of wanton endangerment. He will be arraigned on the charges Saturday morning.
