Mesquite Police seek help in search for hit and run suspect

MESQUITE - The Mesquite Police Department is asking for the public's help in their search of a suspect involved in a hit and run incident. 

On Saturday morning officers responded to a call of a person lying dead in the grass in the 4300 block of Interstate Highway 30.

The police investigation revealed tht the crash happened shortly after 2:30 am on Saturday morning.

They were able to determined that the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the road. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and has yet to be positively identified.

The Mesquite Police Department believes that the suspect was driving a silver, early 2000’s model pickup or sport utility vehicle manufactured by General Motors (Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac). 

The vehicle could be a Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Avalanche, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade. 

It will have noticeable front-end damage.  The front right headlight will be broken and the passenger side rear view mirror will be damaged or missing.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5000.00 for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense.
