Woman rescued from Flower Mound house fire

FLOWER MOUND -- A woman trapped inside a burning home was rescued by firefighters during a two-alarm fire early Thursday.

At about 2 a.m. firefighters from the Flower Mound Fire Department arrived to find the second story of the home on Teakwood Drive engulfed in flames.

A man was also in the home when the fire started but had already escaped, along with several cats, by the time first responders arrived.

The woman, however, remained trapped inside. She was quickly located and rescued by crews near the front door. She wasn't seriously injured and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

None of the estimated 50 firefighters who responded from Flower Mound, Lewisville and Grapevine were injured.

The home was destroyed and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Both the man and woman are believed to be residents, although their relationship remains unclear.
