More than $5,000 in reward money is being pledged to find the person who may have tortured a dog in Ellis County.

Veterinarians say Bear's eyes were gouged out after he briefly escaped from his home in Garrett.

His owner can't handle a blind dog. The Ennis Veterinary Clinic has received dozens of adoption inquiries for the small Shih Tzu; it should select a new home for Bear by next week.

Garrett Police Chief Bill Turnage says the city is sending out flyers in hopes of finding out more information about what happened.  There are no suspects at this time.
