GRAPEVINE (AP) — Thousands of drivers leaving Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport have been overcharged in the first two weeks of a new parking control system.

Airport spokesman David Magana said Thursday that officials are working to refund the overcharges. Drivers have complained about being charged for parking times when they were not still at the airport.

An upgraded payment system began Sept. 4 to automatically register vehicles driving in and out of the airport complex. Drivers can process their own transactions with a North Texas Toll Authority TollTag or a credit card as they exit.

Airport officials say some problems involve scanners not properly reading tags -- leading to overcharges when wrong times for entry or exit are recorded.
