Texas has a new worst traffic spot, according to the Texas Department of Transportation’s annual list of the state's 100 most congested roadways.
The dreaded stretch of Interstate 35 through Austin, from US 290 to SH 71, that had previously topped the list now finds itself at No. 2 behind the stretch of I-610 between I-10 and US 59 in Houston.
It’s still the worst for truckers, according to TXDOT.
Dallas County logs three of the top 10 most congested roadways: Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Beckley Avenue and US 75 (No. 4), Interstate 635 from I-35E to US 75 (No. 7), and I-35E between SH 183 and I-30 (No. 8).
Tarrant County residents may have beef with TXDOT’s ranking. Their traffic nightmare on I-35W between SH 183 and I-30 only makes No. 23 on the list.
Harris County not only lays claim to the worst traffic spot in the Lone Star State, but also landed six of the top 10 traffic trouble spots, and eight of the top 12.
Thirty North Texas roadways make the top 100.
