FORT WORTH — Police said the bloodied body of a young woman was found in a vacant lot in southeast Fort Worth late Sunday morning. Detectives said she had been murdered and there were suspects in custody on Sunday night.
The woman was identified as 21-year-old Vanessa Murrell.
A witness called police at 11:42 after seeing the body in a residential neighborhood in the 3100 block of South Collard Street. She was pronounced dead by the time help arrived.
"I could see the body laying there; it looked like somebody was sleeping," said Keith Talton, who lives nearby. "She was dead, you know? It kinda like messed me up."
Police asked for anyone with information about this case to contact detectives.
Neighbors said they had seen the woman in the starting about five months ago.
