MANSFIELD — Two people were killed and two others were critically injured Sunday evening when a sport utility vehicle collided head-on with a pickup truck on East Broad Street in Mansfield.
Police told News 8 that the Ford SUV with a male driver and three juvenile passengers was traveling on Broad Street near Lowes Farm Parkway when it crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, hitting a Ford F-250 pickup truck.
One juvenile in the SUV was dead at the scene; a second juvenile died later at a hospital.
The driver of the sport utility vehicle and the third juvenile in the car were reported to be in critical condition Sunday evening.
The driver of the pickup truck, the only occupant of that vehicle, was hospitalized but is expected to survive.
A third car was also clipped; its occupants weren't hurt.
No names have been released, nor were police discussing the relationship between any passengers in the SUV. A Mansfield ISD spokesperson confirmed to News 8 the two children killed were not associated with the district.
Police said there were no initial indications that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
