A Western Hills High School student was detained and suspended on Monday following reports that he or she brought a gun to school on Dec. 14.

Fort Worth Independent School District spokesman Clint Bond said classmates on Dec. 17 reported the incident to their parents, who promptly told administrators. The student, who privacy laws prevent the district from identifying, was taken from class and questioned.

"Within a matter of minutes of the administration learning about this, they had the student where they knew where that person was,"  Bond said. "There was no immediate danger to anybody."

A Benbrook Police Department report said the student was "detained and released to parents." However, the case has been forwarded to juvenile court. Bond said the student has been suspended but added that "it's my understanding that Benbrook police have been unable to find a weapon."

A Benbrook police spokesman would not comment further because the case involves a juvenile.
