FORT WORTH — An employee of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office has been arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter following a fatal accident near a movie theater on Saturday evening.

Fort Worth police said a truck driven by 29-year-old Alan Michael McKinney was traveling south in the 5900 block of Sandshell Drive at 6:15 p.m. when his vehicle crashed into the driver's side of a small sedan that was pulling out of the United Artists theater.

Amy Anders, the 23-year-old woman who was driving the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene; her 21-year-old male passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being extricated from the wreckage.

McKinney, who is a civilian employee of the sheriff's office assigned to a roadside courtesy patrol, was taken to the Mansfield Jail, with bond set at $12,000.

Sheriff's office spokesman Terry Grisham said McKinney has been employed by the agency since 2006, but does not know if he has been the subject of any past complaints, disciplinary actions or incidents.

Fort Worth police are investigating the fatal accident. The sheriff's office has suspended McKinney with pay pending the results of an internal affairs investigation.
