FORT WORTH — A possible theft at Hulen Mall resulted in a high-speed chase along Interstate 20 in Fort Worth on Tuesday evening.

Police said an officer was working off-duty when he was alerted to the crime. He confronted the suspect, but was attacked.

The suspect hopped into a Lincoln sedan, leading police on a pursuit along the freeway. The suspect's car rammed several other vehicles before it crashed into a guardrail at the Wichita Street exit.

One of the suspects was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The original suspect faces multiple charges, including assault on a peace officer, theft, evading arrest, resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon.

The officer who was assaulted will be okay.

Rush hour traffic in the area was slowed by the police investigation.
