FORT WORTH — Fort Worth police were fired on as they responded to reports of a shooting at a nightclub on the city's southeast side early Saturday morning.

Police spokesman Cpl. Tracey Knight said officers observed several people yelling and running from Club X in the 5100 block of East Rosedale Street as they arrived at the scene around 1:30 a.m.

One suspect shot at police from behind a trash bin; officers were unable to return fire, and the suspect fled in the direction of the Caville housing project along with several other people.

Police found one person with what appeared to be a gunshot wound at the entrance to Club X, although initial reports indicated there might be multiple shooting victims, Knight said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment; no name or condition were available. The shooting suspect remained at large Saturday afternoon.

Police said they recovered shell casings from the parking lot as evidence.
