FORT WORTH — The expansion of Cook Children's Medical Center started with a bang on Sunday morning.
The former Medical Tower building at Rosedale Street and Eighth Avenue was imploded at 7:30 a.m. to make room for a new office tower and parking garage.
It took just seconds to topple the 1964-vintage eight-story structure in a cloud of dust.
The new construction is part of a $250 million expansion project.
Once the Medical Tower rubble is cleared away, the five-story building and seven-level parking garage should take about a year to complete.
