FORT WORTH — Women across the world and in North Texas set out to break a record while making a statement about breastfeeding on Saturday.
The Tarrant County Breastfeeding Coalition held its family expo event, with a goal of providing women with information about breastfeeding and infant nutrition.
They were also trying to break a world record for the number of women breastfeeding at the same time. It's called "The Big Latch-On."
"We need to normalize breastfeeding, show that breastfeeding is natural," explained lactation consultant Shannon O'Quinn Wingo. "It is the way that we're supposed to feed our babies. It is infant nutrition."
Last year more than 100 moms took part. Organizers said this year there were well over 200 moms participating.
More than 8,000 mothers worldwide were involved in the event.
