FORT WORTH -- Flames destroyed a Southeast Fort Worth church early Friday morning.
Around 5 a.m. a fire broke out at Greater Canaan Missionary Baptist Church on Effie Street off Rosedale.
Firefighters put out the flames and went into the overhaul process around 5:45 a.m., looking for hot spots that could flare up.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Neighbors say they saw flames shooting through the roof of the church, and it appeared the fire started inside the building.
No injuries have been reported.
Pastor Kenneth Sayles, who grew up in the church, spoke to News 8. He said his congregation will still meet at that very spot Sunday morning.
"We're gonna make it. we're gonna get on the other side of this," Sayles said.
The Fort Worth Fire Department says the church is a total loss with damages estimated at $415,000.
