Two small earthquakes rattled the Azle area on Tuesday.
A 2.3-magnitude tremor that struck just before midnight was centered two miles north-northwest of Azle along the 1500 block of Rhonda B Road.
At about noon Tuesday, there was also a 3.0-magnitude earthquake that struck northwest of Pelican Bay centered in the 7700 block of Schantile Drive, about 3 miles north-northeast of Azle.
The Azle area has been a hot spot of seismic activity over the past several months. A group of citizens appeared before the Texas Railroad Commission on January 21 expressing concerns that oil and gas drilling may be responsible for the quakes.
The Commission has pledged to hire a staff seismologist to investigate the possibility.
