ARLINGTON — Police were investigating the deaths of two adults found slain at an apartment complex in North Arlington on Saturday.
Investigators said the crime took place at the Stone Canyon apartments in the 2100 block of Madison Drive, just northwest of the intersection of Lamar Boulevard and Collins Street.
Police spokesman Lt. Christopher Cook said a woman called 911 after finding the victims — a man and a woman — around 11:30 a.m. The apartment they were in had been ransacked.
"At this point, nothing is pointing to it being a murder-suicide," Cook said. "It appears that this was a double homicide."
Police did not name the two who were murdered, nor did they specify how they were killed pending a report from the medical examiner's office.
Detectives were especially keen to locate a sport utility vehicle initially thought to have been taken from the victims. The black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was said to have old bullet holes in the passenger side door, 26-inch chrome wheels, a missing rear bumper, and the number "26" on the door.
The vehicle was found on Saturday afternoon, apparently having been taken by a family member with the permission of its owner.
Police were interviewing neighbors and family members trying to develop a timeline for the murders.
