BENBROOK -- Police have issued a missing person press release for a 21-year-old who has been missing since late August on Thursday.
According to the Benbrook Police Department, a family member of Chaney Hawthorne came to them on Aug. 26 and said they had not seen nor heard from Hawthorne for several days.
Then, on Aug. 31, the detective assigned to the case learned Hawthorne’s vehicle was recovered in Bowie County, Texas, along the Texas/Arkansas border.
Benbrook police are working with investigators in Bowie County as well as the Texas Rangers in an effort to find Hawthorne. They’ve asked the public for any information that may aid in the search.
Hawthorne is described as a 21-year-old white male, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing about 160 lbs. He was brown hair and blue eyes. Police also sent out a recent photo of the missing man, which you can see at the top of this story.

It was not immediately clear from the news release why information regarding the missing person was not sent out sooner.
